Dr. Mark Reiter is a professor of Soils and Nutrient Management at the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Virginia Tech and director of the Eastern Shore Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Dr. Reiter’s research works to improve the efficiency, productivity, quality, and overall sustainability of Virginia’s grain, fiber, and vegetable farming sectors, including soil and nutrient management. Dr. Reiter also works to develop innovative soil management and soil fertility strategies that utilize new technologies, new methods for fertilizer applications, and testing of new fertilizer sources that will increase overall productivity and reduce nutrient losses to the environment (especially nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur).
As Co-Principal Investigator, Dr. Reiter is responsible for coordinating the research activities of Virginia Tech and harmonizing their activities and outcomes with the objectives and deliverables of the Alliance.
